Many of us have had to rely on a mechanic to fix our cars at one time or another. We have all had terrible experiences and, sometimes we have had a good experience. Often, the bad experience is due to lack of experience by the mechanic. Sure, maybe the price was cheaper but, many times the repair is not done right, and we must go back to get it fixed right, costing us more time, aggravation, and expense then if we had paid more to get it done right the first time.

The same is true for moving and storage companies. Many homeowners have confided in me about their “horrible nightmare move experiences” but, very few have confided that they had a good experience when moving. The difference, again, comes down to training and experience. There usually is such high turnover in the moving and storage industry that there is not enough time to learn everything there is to know about everything being moved in a household. There are literally thousands of different scenarios with almost every move.

It takes years to gain the type of knowledge needed to always know what to do when moving furniture, heirlooms, antiques, wine, art, etc. Just like the mechanic and your car, you will pay more for experienced, trained movers but, in the end, the experience will be a good one. Here are 3 ways training creates a better moving experience.

1) EFFICIENCY – Trained and experienced movers know how to properly prepare items to be moved onto and off a moving truck. This cuts down on the time required, saving valuable time for the homeowner. With so much stress already around having to relocate, the last thing the homeowner needs is to worry if the move will get done on time for the new owners to move in. In our 30 years of experience, we have encountered hundreds of times when our staff is at the door of the new home, only to find out the other moving company has not yet moved the old homeowners out yet!

2) DAMAGES – Every homeowner who has moved more than twice, will acknowledge they have had damages. It simply goes without saying that there will be “some” damages on most moves. This can almost 100% be attributed to the lack of training and experience of the movers. With the William C Huff White Glove Moving and Storage Company, damages are very rare and, can mostly be attributed to just an “accident”.

I can recount numerous times when we have moved a homeowner for the 2nd time and they would admit that they had a small nick or scrape in their last move but, thought it “no big deal” and, never followed-up with us. They were used to damages from other movers and felt it was miner by comparison. The fact is, we want our clients to let us know of any even minor issues, so we can take care of them. It happens so rarely that we are happy to take care of any “accident” that happens.

3) PEACE OF MIND- One of the most stressful events people go through is moving. It ranks #3 behind death of a loved one and divorce…which usually triggers someone to move…making it even more stressful. Knowing that you have hired a moving and storage company that has been in business for over 112 years can give the homeowner peace of mind to know that the movers have been highly trained and that the Company’s reputation has lasting value, long after the best price has been forgotten.

The William C Huff White Glove Moving and Storage Company has a reputation for exceeding client expectations for more than 113 years. While many moving companies struggle to keep experienced movers and turn over is high, the William C Huff Company has had some members of their moving teams for more than 25 years, making the William C Huff Companies one of the most experienced, trained company in the US.
